Pierre Ferrand – Sélection des Anges

From one of the great Cognac brands, The Pierre Ferrand Selection des Anges is a gorgeously mature cognac exhibiting surprisingly rich flavors of licorice and vanilla, complete with a long finish, smooth delivery, and beautifully dark gold color. I admit to being in love with this cognac, in its class little compares and unlike most Ferrands, the pricing is about right with 750ml bottles available for around $100. Its not easy to find around town, but is readily available on the internet. Ferrand delivers with Selection des Anges, and for its class, it can be considered one of the best. 0This has been a personal favorite since trying it about 9 years ago. Given the fact it’s comparable in price to a lot of bigger name houses’ XO’s – makes it a tremendous value at the $100 range. If you like a full-bodied, rich but elegant style of Cognac, definitely give this a shot. I would have to disagree with Matthew..the taste is not diluted at all – this is a full-bodied Cognac – it doesn’t show the heat on the palate near as much as many – hence the more elegant style.

0This stellar cognac reminds us why we drink certain single malt scotch whiskies; it is what it is and what it is is singularly drinkable. Darrin describes it well; but remember to linger on the finish as it makes your mouth water until you can get back in there and have another sip. Set aside the Riedel spirit glasses, gentlemen. This juice warrants your best brandy balloon.

2.5Not worth attention of any cognac connoisseur. This cognac is popular for the same reason as other overly sugary cognacs. It is sweet thus majority of people like it. However this cognac lacks any complexity or depth of taste. It is sugar in and out and nothing else of substance to mention. It is definitely heavily mixed to cater to prevailing taste of novices. I do not recommend it to anyone with a developed/acquired pallet.

This is phenomenal cognac, great nose, delicate taste, complex, Iam in love with this cognac! Get it, wont regret it.
